Operations and Systems Research Division
Operations and Systems Research Division (Zakład Badań Operacyjnych i Sytemowych) is a part of
Institute of Control & Computation Engineering in
The Faculty of Electronics and Information Technology at
WARSAW UNIVERSITY OF TECHNOLOGY .
We have about 15 person research and teaching staff and about 10 PhD students.
The division consists of two teams:
Operations Research and Management Systems Team
Research of the division is concerned with operation research and structural discrete optimization methods for control and management of discrete processes, including applications in the deregulated electric power industry, computer integrated manufacturing and educational systems. The research is focused on market and auctions design, scheduling techniques, efficient structural-based optimization algorithms, time-table generation, strategic and tactical planning, detailed scheduling, and real-time operational control. Also, the object oriented and relational database management systems and CASE methods are investigated to design of the distributed multi-functional heterogeneous information systems.
Optimization and Decision Support Team
Research of the team is focused on the theory of distributed and parallel computational methods, and software for optimization. The theory covers a whole area of linear and non-linear, dynamic, stochastic and multiple criteria problems, and deals with such topics as the sensitivity aspects and the parametric aspects. Another area covers the decision theory, including the multi-person decisions and the game theory, and deals with software building for decision support and organization and management of computer networks. Also, research is carried on the methods of reasoning in knowledge based systems.
